LEAVE YOUR MARK
Wine and art in the heart of Tuscany
The name EXEGI contains a deep and symbolic meaning.
It derives from the Latin exēgī, which means “I have accomplished” or “I have brought to completion”.
It is the verb that the Roman poet Quintus Horace uses in the famous verse
“ Exēgī monumentum aere perennius ”
“I have raised a monument more enduring than bronze.”
In this sentence, the author celebrates the eternal strength of his work, capable of resisting
to time and live beyond matter. In this context, EXEGI becomes the symbol of a work
destined to last over time, to leave a mark with its taste.

Origini familiari
We are born into a family of winemakers who have loved the land for over a century in the hills of Lucca.
Since the early 1900s, vineyard work has been handed down as a daily practice and a shared value, founded on respect for nature and patient observation of the cycle of the seasons.
Each generation has preserved and refined organic farming practices, keeping alive the bond with the land and the memory of those who have always studied and cultivated it.
The winery is located in a historic villa, a place of life and work, where each bottle tells a family story of dedication, craftsmanship, and vision.
The cultivated varieties—Sangiovese, Trebbiano, and grapes for the classic method—reflect the continuity of an agricultural knowledge that evolves without losing its soul.
Wine and art in the heart of Tuscany
Today, Cantine EXEGI is a project that unites wine and art.
Our logo, inspired by Japanese sumi-e painting, represents the essentiality and balance that guide all our production choices.
This connection between Eastern aesthetics and Italian winemaking tradition comes to life through cultural events, art tastings, and thematic exhibitions we host at the winery and in collaboration with art galleries.
Each label thus becomes a visual sign that conveys the EXEGI philosophy: elegance, depth, and respect for time.
Wine is not just to be drunk, but to be contemplated, shared and experienced.

The roots of Cantine EXEGI date back to 1920, when great-grandfather Alessio Pianesani began to create
